A traditional board game of the Middle East.
The cloth board game is beautifully embroidered and folds up, along with the game pieces.. The game instructions are also included.
The word “barjees” is Persian and versions of this game are found along the Silk Road (in Spain it is called “parchis” and in India “parchisi”).
“The Barjees was an essential item in the "dowry” of the Beiruti and Damascene bride, until the mid-twentieth century. … It was the common entertainment option for the women who used to spend their afternoons in the closed courtyards or Dar of the old traditional houses.“
